Heads or tails?

Sequel to Fall's first dusk
Yunho sat on the porch steps watching light drops of rain fall to the rippling puddle. It was far too early to get mopey but today wasn't just any day, it was the day Jaejoong would tie the knot with someone else. Truly, he wasn't much of a masochist but if it meant accepting that reality as much as it kills, maybe he'd go.
Jaejoong flipped a coin as he depended on fate to decide on where he belongs. The thing with taking that risk isn't the outcome --of either heads, he escapes to find Yunho; or tails, he commits himself to a lonely married life, but rather the moment the coin slips from his fingertips and twirls midair. You find out what you want.
He looked at his fine reflection in the mirror before heading out to his car. The rain had stopped by the time he had reached the place he visits everyday with hopes that Jaejoong would come by again but it never happened. The park bench where he met Jaejoong was always only occupied by him. Today, he stayed to just hang and rethink about going or not. He still had a good hour before the ceremony starts and he was nervous. Stop dreaming you can getaway with him anymore. He's on for a damn marriage for chrissake! Yunho, blankly staring at falling leaves, waiting for a sign and listening to a monologue in his head as he continued on for long, tallying for going-or-not-going.
The twinkling sound of metal hitting the surface resounded in his ears, as well as the voice of his own mind making him absent-mindedly rebellious.
After quite past an hour at the park, Yunho finally decided he'd go and walked slowly to his car. Was he trying to convince himself otherwise?
Jaejoong decided to escape from the wedding. He ran off, leaving the coin on the marble floor without even looking at it.
The wedding hall was only a few blocks away from the park. While on the way, he saw Jaejoong running towards the direction where he came from, all dressed up and should be waiting at the altar. He took a quick traffic-ruining U-turn and following the runaway groom.
"Hey! You! Runaway groom!" He pulled his window down and drove the same speed as Jaejoong's running, "Where do you think you're going? You have a wedding to attend. And in case you've forgotten, its yours."
"Oh my god! There you are!" Jaejoong slowed down and then he finally stopped to squat on the sidewalk. Yunho got off from his vehicle and approached the exhausted man.
"What do you mean 'There you are!'? Did you really just runaway?" Yunho lift him up and placed him on the passenger seat.
"I... I didn't want to live for anybody else anymore. Do you remember when we first met?" He spoke after a long pause of trying to stable his breathing.
"Of course, I do. That wasn't too long ago, was it?" Yunho joked, "Breathe, Jaejoong. Breathe. Speak later." He just stared at the other man look out the window with a serious expression on his face again. "Park?" Jaejoong nodded in affirmation.
They sat at their bench at each end. Staring quietly at the silhouettes of branches. Jaejoong life his legs up and sat facing Yunho, "The moment I gave you that invitation, I thought to myself, 'If he comes, I'm gonna ditch the wedding.' because I never thought you'd actually come."
Nothing would ever make you feel better than having a slow, trusty conversation with the person who has become the love of you life.
"Do you know how weird this is?"
"Trust me, there's more to weird than us and this situation. But yeah, at some point I came to think of it as that."
"We met once, Jae."
"Jae? Is that my new nickname." he chuckled, "Well- Yunho, a lot can happen in an hour. I mean, someone can get pregnant in an hour."
"True. You see, I was on my way home that day. I was just thinking of how much I missed being in a relationship and you came along. You, who was supposed to get married today and ran off-"
"because I met you." He interrupted Yunho with a short, honest statement. "This isn't about weird, Yunho. I never believed in fate, nor did I believe in the thing called 'love at first sight' but I think you proved them true to me."
"To think that the reason I was going to your wedding was to..."
"You wanted to see me one last time before you finally lose me."
"See what I mean? We met once, and you already know how my brain functions."
"Its not that hard to figure you out, Yunho. Maybe you should know one important thing about me."
"Just one?"
Jaejoong nodded, "I'm an artist in the advertising industry. I learned it in school to read people and know what they want and need and how they plan to live their everyday lives. I'm not as eccentric as you think I am, I pry at other people's demands so I can sell useless things to them."
"You mean, just by that one meeting, you've figured out how I think?"
"Not totally. But I knew what you wanted."
"You."
"T-that I didn't know for sure, until now."
"If you weren't sure, then why aren't you getting married right now?"
"This morning, I woke up earlier than I usually do. I sat on the veranda railings and watched the light rain fall on the garden. You know how I love the smell of grass when it rains. I was thinking of all the possibilities that can happen in my life still." he continued, "I figured by the time that I was called out for breakfast that all of those wishes involved you, though I wasn't certain why. What kept me from escaping that early was the thought of my parents. They set me up for this marriage so I can give them a grandchild. I'm their only son of all the nine children they have and my whole life, I've lived to make them happy."
"You're afraid you'd disappoint them." Yunho tried to sympathize.
"But you see, marriage isn't something they can decide on for me. Its a huge leap in my life and even them, my parents, can't meddle with it for some wish they want me to grant for them. Since I was a kid, I've tried to never, ever let them down because they brought me into this world. Now, if I do get married and have a child. I'd be too aggravated to even love the child as much as they did with me. I never do things half-heartedly. And if I push through with this, its gonna be a first and it'll also be the greatest mistake I'll put myself in."
"Have you ever tried telling your parents about these thoughts?"
"I tell you, I can talk to them anytime. But this issue, they never let me have my grasp on it. I was like an outsider even if it was my marriage and my happiness at stake."
"What do you think are they gonna do now?"
"I have no idea." Jaejoong paused, "Pretty ironic isn't it?" Yunho nodded and signalled for Jaejoong to lie down and rest his head on his lap.
"Of all people you couldn't read, its your own parents."
"Even now, I couldn't even guess what's happening in the wedding hall. Except that the girl must be crying of embarrassment." he chuckled with a hint of guilt.
"What are you gonna do?"
"What else?" he looked into Yunho's eyes, "What was the reason for this escape I just did?"
"Okay. Where do you wanna go?"
"If I were cheesy enough, I'd say 'Anywhere with you is fine.' But I'm not, so I say we go to Amsterdam or Spain or France."
"I really wish you were cheesy right now." he smirked.
"WHAT?!"
"Hey, I'm kidding. You didn't know, did you?" Yunho paused, "I'm a college student. I'm in my 3rd year of Advetising Arts."
"Eh?"
"You see, you're not the only one who's fond of escaping, you know?"
"Seriously?"
"I used to be a Med student until I intentionally flunked my grades for my art's sake. I never wanted to be a doctor, I'm an artist. Maybe I'll take that up when I get bored in life but not know that I'm in the time of my life where I can't take anything back if I make a mistake."
"I know what you mean. So we're not too late after all, aren't we?"
"No. Not at all."
"Good."
"You're gonna be living with me, alright?"
Jaejoong shot him a shocked glare, "Okay." He replied lethargically.
"Let's go, before your family finds you."
He had the right to leave, he had a job and he can live on his own. He was just holding himself back because he had no reason to defy them. Now that he does, he's gonna take every chance he gets to live his life to the fullest. Every single day, with Yunho, he will make all their wishes come true.
Almost two years had passed and everything still seemed so fresh to them. They boarded on the evening flight to Amsterdam. They were officially leaving everything behind and starting a not-so-new life somewhere they both dreamt of going to when they were younger.
Oh and... Heads. The coin fell in favor of his wish but he never found out. Not that it still mattered does it?
