There is a light that never goes out.
Wed, Jun. 15th, 2011 12:41 pmIt was years after... Driving down the same road, homebound from some place all too familiar, with no other than the same man who'd crossed a lot for them. Nothing was easy back then, everything was made complicated, and they were naive.
Time means everything. Timing is everything.
Of goodbyes and I'll miss you's, and unexpectedly coming together one morning and what seemed to bask a new chapter in the life of someone who had moved on but then the knowledge of what's going to happen next, they knew still lingered in their minds, imprinted like the tattoos of his ex-lover on his back, shaped like wings, with words that remind him of his place in the world.
Thinking twice, should he give in or not. Convincing themselves that what happened in the past was all too hurtful to just get in it again, but in the back of their minds they knew how different this time is. How much they've grown, no longer stuck in hell holes and rules, no longer naive, no longer tied down to just follow or disobey.
And then they think, did they choose to fall apart despite the disputes? Or did they just let it happen without words to comfort each other that maybe someday they'll find a way back to each other?
Who would know unless one gives it a shot? Hoping for expectations to not tear him apart when the ends meet, if they do.
It was simple, how Yunho had asked him if he'd be willing to get back together with him. He felt a tug at his heart that he'd been unconsciously waiting for that moment, but he'd never pondered if he'd say yes at once. But he did.
He almost missed out on that part where Yunho holds him in his arms, almost missed out on that part where Yunho assures him this time would be different, but he didn't miss the moment when he discovered the gentlest feeling. And he just knew nothing would go wrong.
What else is there to ponder when you're on the same page? What might be there to doubt when you can see through to each other? He thinks maybe, there's a catch in here somewhere. That at some point, that so-called fate will meddle again and he's up for another round of- of melancholy, perhaps? Then he holds on to the thought that he's not alone this time. That he's not the only one willing to fight anymore because he'd promised, this time, he'll never make the same mistakes again.
"... the diner a couple of blocks from home?" He goes back down to the now and smiles before turning to the other man with a questioning look on his face, "Hm? Jae? What do you think?"
"Yeah, sure."
"Hey..." Jaejoong hums in response, "What're you thinking just now?"
"I- I feel like this is too good to not have a catch in it." Yunho slows down as he turns towards the gates of the exclusive apartment complex. Jaejoong continues, "Am I the only one thinking this? Wait, I thought we were going out to that diner?"
"Well, here's the catch," Yunho drives past the vertical clearance sign, "we're walking to the diner."
"Yunho! I didn't mean that!" That same beautiful smile reaches Jaejoong's eyes.
"I know, baby. I just wanted to ease your over thinking, again." He plants a kiss on Jaejoong's forehead as the car stops before he properly parks it.
