For No One

Staring blankly at him, you question why there’s nothing in his eyes anymore. He cries, but for who exactly? He doesn’t need you anymore.

That denial of the fact that you’re not in love with each other any longer. It should have lasted years, you think while you convince yourself that he’s thinking the same thing.

He doesn’t look at you the same way. He drops hints that it’s over, that all is now unrequited; the love, the need, the want. But you won’t believe him.

You look into his eyes again as he gets up to leave for a day out. He had cried again. Maybe out of pity that you can’t let him go. Or maybe he’s hurting, that you can’t give him the happiness he wants so badly. That you’re selfishly keeping him to force back the glory days of your passion and being madly in love.

You know you won’t be able to forget.

“And in her eyes you see nothing, no sign of love behind the tears. Cried for no one. A love that should have lasted years.” – For No one; The Beatles

Note: These ramblings are out of frustration because my classes are getting the better of me and I feel my instability all the more as days go further into the semester.
